Hogwarts Legacy Modding Contest

As part of the integration of CurseForge with Hogwarts Legacy, CurseForge is running this contest, inviting you to create Mods on the CurseForge platform for Hogwarts Legacy.

The Hogwarts Legacy Modding Contest is a dynamic contest designed to inspire and showcase the talents of the Hogwarts Legacy modding community.

Below is a brief overview of the qualifications for entering and participating in the contest. Afterward, you will find the full and official rules governing the contest. Please take the time to read the official rules carefully.

TIMETABLE:

  • Start Date: January 30th - Participants may begin submitting their entries.
  • End Date: March 26th - The final date for participants to submit their entries.
  • Winners Announcement: April 3rd

SUBMISSION CATEGORIES:

The contest will be running with two main categories:

  • Cosmetics: Includes all mods related to characters, cosmetics, and items. 15 mods in this category will be selected as grand winners.
  • Worldbuilding: Includes all mods that are quests and dungeons. 5 mods in this category will be selected as grand winners.
  • Gameplay: Includes all mods related to game mechanics and quality-of-life improvements. 10 mods in this category will be selected as grand winners

WINNERS AND PRIZES:

The contest consists of Grand Prizes, Weekly Prizes, and Community Picks. All prizes and rewards are based on skill. We or the community (all depending on the type of reward) will judge and select the winning mods.

This contest includes the following prizes:

  • Grand prize winners: $2,500 per winner for the Cosmetics category and the Gameplay category, $5,000 per winner for the Worldbuilding category (30 total winners)
  • Weekly prize winners: To keep the contest going and reward as many authors as possible, CurseForge will hold weekly judging sessions for current submissions (starting January 2nd). These 6 weekly sessions will award 10 authors $500 each, totaling 60 additional winners.
  • Community pick winner: Hogwarts Legacy players are also invited to take part in the event by casting their votes for their favorite mods! Once our Grand prize winners are announced on Twitter, the community will vote on their favorite from each category. The Community pick winners will be awarded $2,500 per winner (3 total winners). To cast your vote, like the CurseForge Twitter Post dedicated to one of the winners. Please note you’ll need a Twitter account to do so.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE:

  1. Sign up as a CurseForge Mod Author: https://authors.curseforge.com/welcome/
  2. Publish your mod on CurseForge, and make sure it complies with the contest requirements (See “Submission Requirements” below for more information).
  3. Fill out the submission form
  4. Modders may publish and submit as many mods as they’d like.

JUDGING:

  • Judges’ Picks (Grand prize and Weekly prize winners): A panel of judges, consisting of judges from the modding community and CurseForge, would select the mods they rated the most among the submissions.
  • Community Picks (Community pick winners): Chosen by the most liked mod from each category on CurseForge’s Twitter Posts (among the grand winners).

The Panel Judges will select the winners and winning creations based on 30% Originality, which will evaluate how creative, new, and unique the mod is; 30% "Fun Factor," which will evaluate whether the mod is fun to play with; 30% visual aesthetic aspect, which will evaluate whether the mod is "eye-catching"; and 10% Downloads, which will determine the number of downloads the mod has accumulated so far.

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS:

  • You need to have a CursForge Author Account and accept the terms and conditions.
  • You will need to review, approve, and comply with the Official Contest Rules attached below.
  • All submitted creations must adhere to CurseForge Moderation Policies and Hogwarts Legacy’s Specific Moderation Policies. This includes restrictions on the use of protected intellectual property, prohibitions on nudity, etc.
  • Don’t publish duplicated mods, and don’t publish other people’s work as your own. Prioritize publishing creations that add value to the player community.
  • Note that all mods submitted to CurseForge undergo a moderation process, which could lead to a delay of a few days from submission to publication.
  • When publishing your creations, ensure they are accurately categorized. For instance, do not categorize a “Quest Mod” under “Character” or vice versa.
  • Failure to meet any of the requirements set forth below in the official rules may lead to disqualification of your submission or revocation of any winnings.

Hogwarts Legacy Modding Contest OFFICIAL CONTEST RULES

This Hogwarts Legacy Modding Contest (“Contest” or “ Promotion,” as applicable) is sponsored and operated solely by Overwolf Ltd. and its affiliates, subsidiaries, and respective employees, officers, and directors (collectively “Sponsor”)

NO PURCHASE OR PAYMENT OF ANY KIND NECESSARY TO ENTER OR TO WIN. A PURCHASE OR A PAYMENT OF ANY KIND DOES NOT IMPROVE YOUR CHANCES OF WINNING.

ALL FEDERAL, STATE, LOCAL, AND MUNICIPAL LAWS AND REGULATIONS APPLY. VOID WHERE PROHIBITED. PARTICIPATION IN THE CONTEST CONSTITUTES YOUR AGREEMENT TO AND ACCEPTANCE OF THE OFFICIAL RULES (“RULES”) BELOW AS WELL AS THE CURSEFORGE MOD AUTHORS’ TERMS AND CONDITIONS, WHICH ARE AVAILABLE IN THE FOLLOWING LINK: https://legal.overwolf.com/docs/curseforge/mod-authors-terms AND ACCEPTED DURING THE CREATION OF A CURSEFORGE ACCOUNT.

Defined terms herein, which are not defined, shall have the same meaning as assigned to it under the CurseForge Mod Author Terms.

This contest is in no way sponsored or administered by WB Games Inc. or their respective parent companies and affiliates (collectively, “WB Entities”). Entrants are providing their information to Sponsor and not to any WB Entities

1. ELIGIBILITY.

This Contest is open to all Mod Authors, that: (i) have a Mod Author Account on the CurseForge Platform or have signed up and created such an account in order to participate in the Contest (registration can be made here: https://authors.curseforge.com/welcome/); (ii) which are at least 18 years old, or at or the age of majority in their jurisdiction of residence, whichever is older,.

Employees of Sponsor and other companies associated with the promotion of the Contest, and their respective parents, subsidiaries, affiliates, and advertising and promotion agencies, as well as the immediate family (spouse, parents, siblings, and children) and household members of each such employee, are not eligible. The Contest is subject to all federal, state, and local laws and regulations.

2. RULE AND AGREEMENTS.

Participation in this Contest constitutes your agreement to and acceptance of these Rules and the decisions of the Sponsor, which are final and binding. Winning a reward is contingent upon being and staying compliant with these Rules as well as the CurseForge Mod Author Terms, the CurseForge Moderation Policies, Hogwarts Legacy’s Specific Moderation Policies, and the Community Rules (“Moderation Guidelines”) (all collectively “Rules and Agreements”). The Mods submitted will be subject to a review under these Rules and Agreements, and the Sponsor may, in its sole discretion, disqualify any submission, Mod, as well as remove any Mod submitted, and reserves the right to revoke or disqualify any winner. The Sponsor’s decision is final and binding.

3. PROMOTION PERIOD.

Start Date: January 30th, 2024

End Date: April 3rd, 2024

(“Start Date” and “End Date”, respectively, and together: "Promotion Period").

Announcement: The Sponsor will announce the Grand Prize winners at or about the end of the Promotion Period.

Prizes must be accepted as awarded (i.e., points which are converted to cash gift cards or merchant gift cards, subject to your choice), however, they will not be provided as actual cash (i.e., check, cash). No substitutions except at the Sponsor’s option. Sponsor reserves the right to substitute a prize or a prize component with one of equal or greater value, including without limitation, but solely in the Sponsor’s discretion, a cash award. Prizes will only be awarded to the person who is the owner of the Account.

The Sponsor reserves the right to modify, extend, suspend, or terminate the Promotion if it determines, that the Promotion is technically impaired or corrupted or that fraud or technical problems, failures or malfunctions, or other causes beyond the Sponsor’s control have destroyed or severely undermined or to any degree impaired the integrity, administration, security, proper play, and/or feasibility of the Promotion as contemplated herein.

4. HOW TO ENTER?

Submit the applicable Mods (as applicable) by using the official Contest form available here (“Form”) during the Promotion Period. The entry must fulfill the contest requirements, as specified above (i.e., the applicable number of mods, criteria, etc.), to be eligible to win a prize. Entries that are incomplete or submitted without following the rules or specifications may be disqualified at the sole discretion of the Sponsor.

You must fill in all the information requested in the Form, accurately, and truthfully, you may not enter more times than indicated by using multiple email addresses, identities, or devices in an attempt to circumvent the rules. If you use fraudulent methods or otherwise attempt to circumvent the Rules, your entry may be removed from eligibility at the sole discretion of the Sponsor. However, there is no limitation on the number of Mods submitted, therefore, you can, under the same Account and email address, add and submit as many mods as you wish. The Mods submitted need to be different, duplicated Mods will be disqualified.

Please note: even if you submit multiple Mods, you are only eligible to win one prize of each type (see below).

5. TYPE OF PRIZES AND AWARDS.

Grand prize winners: $2,500 per winner for the Cosmetics category, $2,500 per winner for the Gameplay category, and $5,000 per winner for the Worldbuilding category (30 total winners)

Weekly prize winners: $500 per winner (60 total winners)

Community pick winner: $2,500 per winner (3 total winners)

6. SELECTION OF WINNERS.

All prizes and rewards are based on skill. We, our partners (collectively shall be referred herein as “Panel Judges”), or the community (all depending on the type of reward) will judge and select the winning mods.

Judging Panel. The Judging Panel will be composed of Judges with extensive experience and knowledge in modding. The Judging Panel will include judges from the Sponsor's professional moderation teams and an additional external independent judge.

Grand winners are selected by the Judging Panel. Following the End Date, the judges panel will review and judge Qualified Submissions and will select winners and mods, based on the following criteria: (a) Originality – Creativity, novelty, uniqueness of the Mod (30%) (b) Enjoyability - the playability aspect of the Mod and its fitness to the Game (30%); (c) visual esthetic aspect of the creation (30%);
(d) Popularity – will be evaluated by the number of downloads of the Mod on CurseForge at the time of judging (10%) (each and all are the “Judging Criteria”).

Community Picks. Following the Grand winners' selection, the Sponsor will compile and announce the Grand winners list The list will be shared for community votes on a dedicated post on CurseForge’s Twitter page feed. Gamers may vote for as many Mods as they like. Votes shall be subject to the Sponsor's validation and verification process. For the avoidance of doubt, no mechanically reproduced or automatic actions of any kind (including Bots) are allowed in the vote. In the event that the Sponsor suspects that tools have been used in the vote, whether by you or any third party or in the event of repeat cases of infringement of this section and the integrity of the vote, the Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify the vote/the submission or a Mod Author from the Promotion.

In the event of a tie, the 3 most voted Mods with the highest number of downloads will be selected as the winners.

7. WINNERS NOTIFICATIONS.

Grand Prize Winners will be announced on or about the End Date. The announcement will be published on the CurseForge Twitter page.

This section is only applicable to eligible entrants who qualify for a reward and have not been disqualified for attempting to circumvent the rules as determined by the Sponsor. Sponsor will attempt to notify the potential winner(s) via email or through the Mod Author Account on or about the end of the Promotion Period. If you are eligible for a prize or reward, you will be notified, and you will then be able to redeem your prize as follows: (i) the redemption is by and through CurseForge Authors Rewards Program (“Reward Program”) and is subject to the Reward Program Terms of Service; (ii) your Account will be reimbursed with points equal or higher to the amount you have won.

Where required under applicable laws, each Winner shall be solely responsible for all federal, state, and/or local taxes, and the reporting consequences thereof, and for any other fees or costs associated with the Prize or any applicable prize.

ANY VIOLATION OF THESE RULES BY ANY WINNER (AT THE SPONSOR'S SOLE DISCRETION) WILL RESULT IN THE WINNER'S DISQUALIFICATION AS A WINNER OF THE CONTEST.

8. ODDS OF WINNING.

The Sponsor cannot accurately predict the number of Mod Authors participating or the number of Mods that will be submitted, the odds of winning depend on the total number of eligible submissions.

9. RIGHTS IN SUBMISSIONS.

For good and valuable consideration, the receipt and legal sufficiency of which is hereby acknowledged, each entrant hereby irrevocably grants to Sponsor and their successors, licensees, and assigns, an exclusive license (but not the obligation) to publicly perform, publicly display, of the Mods, in whole or in part, for marketing purposes, in any and all media now or hereafter devised throughout the universe in perpetuity. The Sponsor shall have the right, in their sole discretion, to edit, composite, morph, scan, duplicate, or alter the visual aspect of the Submission for marketing purposes which the Sponsor deems necessary or desirable, and each entrant irrevocably waives any and all so-called “moral rights” they may have therein. You hereby acknowledge and accept that submitting a Mod to the contest constitutes your permission to use both your name and Mod for advertising, marketing, promotional, or publicity purposes (such as listing the winners), and you permit all uses of the submission, worldwide and in all forms of media.

10. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY.

The Sponsor, nor WB Entities, will not be liable in case of (i) technical failures of any kind, including but not limited to the malfunctioning of any computer, cable, network, hardware or software; (ii) the unavailability or inaccessibility of any transmissions or telephone or Internet service; (iii) unauthorized human intervention in any part of the entry process or the Promotion; (iv) electronic or human error which may occur in the administration of the Promotion or the processing of entries; (v) failure of Sponsor to supply/provide the Prize or any part thereof, by any reason of any act of God, fire, natural disaster accident, or act of government, or any other cause beyond the Sponsor’s sole control; (vi) incorrect or inaccurate entry information whether caused by internet users or by any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the Promotion or by any technical or human error which may occur in the processing of the entries in the Promotion; and (vii) for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, theft or destruction, or unauthorized access to, or alteration of entries.

GOVERNING LAW.

These Rules are subject to the CurseForge Mod Author Terms, which set out the governing law and jurisdiction.
